Michael Collins

Michael Collins, 49, of Waynesville, died Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at his residence.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2010, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.

Graveside rites will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Palmetto Cemetery, with the Rev. Ronnie E. Thrower officiating.

Born Feb. 2, 1961, in Monterey, Calif., to John R. Collins and Mary Edna Miller Grassi, he was a heavy equipment operator and worked with Precision Paving. Mr. Collins was a graduate Tallulah Falls School and received several technical degrees from Coastal College. He was a member of Norwich Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time with his son. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Collins.

Survivors include his mother, Edna Grassi of Shellman Bluff; his father, John Collins and wife, Marsha, of St. Simons Island; a son, Jon Michael Collins of Waynesville; two sisters, Robin Teston and husband, Terry, and Casey Pace and husband, Craig, all of Brunswick; a niece, Katie Collins; and a nephew, Stephen Tindall.
