Peggy Clark Davis
Peggy Clark Davis, 67, of St. Simons Island, died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, at Fellowship Methodist Church, 2185 Old Jesup Road, Brunswick, with Donald Pittman officiating. Interment will follow at Jesup City Cemetery, Jesup.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Clark, Bobby Soles, Chad German, Christopher German, Zac Dean and Doug Hicks. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Magnolia Manor Nursing Home.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was born Oct. 3, 1942, in Jesup to Earnestine Clark and the late Marcus Clark. She had been a resident of Wayne County for many years before living in Glynn County from 1977 to 1999, when she moved back to Jesup. In April 2010, she moved to St. Simons Island.
She is a graduate of Wayne County High School and was retired from Bell South Telephone Co., where she was employed as a telephone operator. Mrs. Davis was a member of Fellowship United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, as well as crocheting and reading.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Clark.
Mrs. Davis is survived by her two daughter, Lisa Smith and husband, David, of Darien and Cindy Hicks and husband, Tony, of Brunswick; her mother, Earnestine Clark of Jesup; two brothers, Dennis Clark and wife, Janice, of Hoboken, and Glen Clark and wife, Linda, of Jesup; sister, Betty Rose Culpepper and husband, Marion; four grandchildren, Rachel Dean, Tony Hicks, Jr., Meagan Smith and David Smith; one great-grandchild; her lifelong friend, Marcele Sparre; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco Parkway, Brunswick, GA 31525.
