Harriet F. “Sappy” Famble Woods
On Friday, January 25, 2019, earth became a dark and lonely place for us, Heaven opened its gates and rejoiced as God, the Heavens’ doorkeepers, Harriet’s husband, Manson Woods, Sr.; her loving son, Nakia Famble; her brother, Joseph and her parents, Mattie Mae Bonneau and Cleveland Bond, Jr., received one of its own. Harriet Francis Famble Woods, 70, of Pin Point, Savannah, Georgia.
Funeral services were held February 2 at First Beaulah Baptist Church with Bishop Thomas J. Sills presiding. Interment followed in Pin Point Cemetery in Savannah.
Harriet, affectionately known as ‘Sappy’ was born January 10, 1949. She attended Haven Home Elementary and graduated from Sol C Johnson High School in 1967. She also attended Savannah State University. She had a passion for educating children and was employed by Savannah Chatham Public School System for 30 years from which she retired. After retirement, Harriet stayed busy and was employed with J.C. Lewis Ford Company on the Landings.
Harriet accepted Christ as her Savior at First Beaulah Baptist Church at a very early age. She was an active member and a dedicated usher.
She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted and loving uncle, Deacon Abraham Famble (Odessa); an aunt, Helen Famble, all of Savannah; one daughter, Lisa Woods; two sons, Manson Woods, III and Oscar Woods, III of Brunswick; two sisters-in-law, Deloris Bentt (Randall) of Townsend and Rosalyn Woods (David) of Darien; God-sister Holly Wright; and a host of loving and caring cousins.
Services were entrusted to Campbell and Sons Funeral Home in Savannah.
