Robert Pickron

Robert Spence Pickron, 79, of St. Simons Island, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020, at Southeast Georgia Health System, in Brunswick.

Due to the current COVID-19 restrictions on public gatherings, a service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Pickron was born Dec. 10, 1940, in Pensacola, Fla., to James B. and Catherine Finn Pickron. He lived most all of his life in Glynn County, graduating from Glynn Academy in 1958.

He was a United States Air Force veteran, serving during Vietnam.

He was the former owner of St. Simons Hardware, and had been employed with Central Hardware for over 36 years. He had a passion for painting and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sharon Lewis Pickron of St. Simons Island; daughters, Leigh Pickron Hall (Eddie) of Alma, and Cathy Pickron Howard (Donnie) of Darien; brothers, Billy Pickron (Dina) of Arizona, Tom Pickron (Frances) of Utah, and Jeff Pickron (Julie) of Texas; sister, Patty Hancock of California; grandchildren, Ryan Pickron, Blake Taylor; Catie Taylor, Dillon Howard and Carly Howard; and his longtime friend, Jimmy Shaw.

Chapman Funeral Chapel & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
