Joel “Pete” Eugene Carpenter
On Sunday, June 7, 2020 Joel “Pete” Eugene Carpenter, 69, of Darien, Georgi,a entered into rest at his home with his fiancé Della by his side.
Joel was affectionally known as “Pistol Pete” or “Pete” for short by all of his friends and family. Born October 12, 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas, to the late Alvin Carpenter and the late Nara Kay Hyatt. Pete eventually moved to California and was a member of the class of 1969 at Pinole Valley High School in Pinole, California. After graduation, Pete chose to serve his country and proudly joined the United States Air Force. Over the next 20 years he had a great career and retired as a highly decorated Master Sergeant. Pete’s last duty and major command was with the Air Force Combat Ammunition Center.
Pete has called Darien, Georgia home for the last fifteen years. Enjoying a simple peaceful life doing what he loved whenever possible. If he wasn’t at work, he was riding his motorcycle, traveling or spending time with his fiancé Della and whenever possible his children.
Pete will live on and be celebrated by all who knew him. He now watches over his 3 children, Cathy Jo Carpenter of Columbia, SC; Alvin Lee Carpenter also of Columbia, SC, and John Carpenter of Orlando, FL; his fiancé, Della Tyner, of Darien, GA; and the mother of his children, Elizabeth Carpenter of Columbia, SC, from heaven.
The family will receive friends between 2 to 3 p.m., on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. The funeral service will began at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2020, in the Chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Tommy Whaley officiating. The American Legion Post #9 will conduct the military honors. We are requesting that all in attendance please observe the State’s social distancing regulations. The burial will be held in Glennville Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville, GA.
