Albert Henry Sallins

Albert Henry Sallins was born on June 06, 1942 in Darien, Georgia to Charlie Sallins Sr. and Sadie Sallins, also of Darien, Georgia. He was affectionately known as “Black Albert”.

His early education was within the McIntosh County School System. He left home at a very early age, to pursue a career in the fishing and shrimp industry. He was married to Pastor Doris Kirkland and they had three children. Early on, Albert acquired his own shrimp boat and started his own business. He knew and loved the water!

Albert could always be counted on to lend a helping hand, to anyone at any given time. He always carried a smile on his face and was a joy to be around. One of his passions, was his beloved boat- The D & S. He made many memories and told numerous stories about his boat! His entire life embodied love, giving, and dedication to his family.

“Black Albert’s” transition became anew on September 03, 2020.

Preceded in passing by his parents, daughter Laverne Sallins, and numerous siblings.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his children: Proverb (Mrs. Rutledge) Rutledge of Darien, GA, Ricky (Deborah) Davis of Darien, GA, Ralph Edwards of Freeport, TX, LeTisha Green of Spring, TX, Alfred (Refelina) Sallins of San Diego, CA, Rodney (Surrell) Sallins of McDonough, GA, Bradley (Devona) Ransom of N. Augusta, SC, Anya Cruz of Savannah, GA.; 27 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Lilly Mae Brown of Chicago, IL; brothers, Charlie Sallins Jr of Houston, TX, Abraham (Mrs. Watson) Watson of Darien, GA; god children, Vernell Warren Jr of Houston, TX, Leandre Washington of Key West, FL; and lifetime shrimping buddy, Mr. Benny Backman. Also cherishing his loving memories are a host of nieces, nephews, a great number of cousins and many friends.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 19, 2020, 1:00 p.m. at Upper Mill Cemetery, New River Road, Darien, Georgia. Visitation/viewing for the immediate family will be held Thursday, September 17, 2020 from 3:30-5:00 p.m. and public viewing will be held Friday, September 18, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Phinazee and Son Funeral Home, 404 West 8th Street, Waynesboro, Georgia.

His loving and devoted family will cherish his memories.
