Brenda Cuthbert McCaskill
Brenda Valencia Cuthbert McCaskill, 57, formerly of Carneghan, died April 1, 2021, in Ohio.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 15, in King Cemetery.
Brenda was born in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Deacon Johnny Cuthbert Sr., and Bessie Mae (Sullivan) Cuthbert, both of Carneghan, McIntosh County, Georgia.
She served as Secretary of the Carneghan Emanuel Baptist Church Sunday School and joined the Cuthbert Singers Trio.
The valedictorian of McIntosh County Academy in 1982, she earned a B.S. in Management from the University of Georgia in 1986 and a M.S. in Management from Antioch University Midwest in 2004. She was a management executive in IT and Public Affairs at two Fortune 500 corporations, Procter and Gamble and Hewlett-Packard.
With David, her husband of 32, years, Brenda was an avid art collector, enthusiastic tennis fan, gifted leader, animal lover, and donor to charities such as the Cincinnati Zoo and the Red Community Fund. She mentored girls through the Cincinnati Youth Collaborative and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. She collected and sold Longaberger baskets. With David, she took memorable trips to Italy and the Caribbean. Among her proudest accomplishments was her membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Cincinnati Queen City Alumnae Chapter. She was elected Chapter President, among other offices, and was also a delegate to regional and national conferences.
Brenda launched the event planning company, A Caring Touch, and AboutGreaterCincinnati, an online e-zine. She enjoyed watching men’s and women’s pro-tennis every summer at the Western and Southern Open. Her press badge gave her special access to the athletes, and she reported on the matches and interviewed the world’s star players for her e-zine. With David, she conceived This&That with David & Brenda, a lively weekly podcast that attracted a global audience. Listeners looked forward to her advice on a range of topics and loved her silly jokes and puns.
Brenda was a devoted and beloved wife, daughter, sister, soror, sister-in-law, and friend. She is survived by her husband, David Alan McCaskill; her sisters, Linda Washington, Emily Hayes, Kate Cuthbert and Luvina Cuthbert; her brother, Henry Cuthbert (Debra); here uncle, Jimmy Sullivan (Denice); mother-in-law, Inez Owens mcCaskill; sisters-in-law, Sandra Hill (Mark), Dr. Barbara McCaskill, and Mae Ruth (O-Neal) Cuthbert; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her sisters, Yvonne Patricia Cuthbert and Lillie Mae VanHolton-Johnson; and her brother, Johnny Cuthbert, Jr.
