Clifford Townsend

Clifford Townsend, 88, of Darien, passed away on Sunday, July 31, 2022, at Hospice of the Golden Isles.

She was a native of Darien, and the daughter of the late George Morris Townsend and Zella Cowart Townsend. She was a doctor’s assistant to several doctors in Darien and retired from the State of Georgia as a group home house parent.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse Hargrove, James Townsend and Joe Townsend; and three sisters, Margaret Rhodes, Evonia Griffin and Lillian Townsend.

She is survived by a sister, Alice Young, of Darien; a brother, William Townsend, of Margate, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Betty Hargrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held.
