Irene Piggott

Irene Piggott, age 80 of Darien, and formerly of Englewood, Fla., died at home with her family on March 4, 2023.

She leaves behind her sister, Clair Doyle; brother, Kirk Hermann; daughters, Kristin Hickey and Stephanie Vallee; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Irene was a woman who loved the Lord, her family, her local friends, as well as her childhood friends, her church, her local quilt guilds and the art community. God had blessed her with the gift of singing, in which she shared this gift in church choirs and plays. She had the gift of painting, quilting, and quilt art in which she shared this gift with the many people she taught over the years. She donated many quilts to service men and women and hospitalized children called, “Comfort Quilts” to make them feel at home while away from home. She also had the gift of encouragement to those she did not know. She would go up to anyone she would see in a market, on the street, or in the post office. She would tell them something special about what they were wearing or how nice their hair looked, or what a beautiful smile they had. She always made them smile.

A celebration of life will be held at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Darien, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to St Andrew’s Food Pantry Darien, GA 31305.

Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
