to seek Mayor’s seat

Darien’s incumbent mayor, who has served two terms, Hugh “Bubba” Hodge, and incumbent South Ward city council member, Augustus “Bubba” Skeen, have qualified to run for Darien mayor in the Nov. 7 General Election.

Recently elected North Ward councilman to fill the unexpired term of the late Morris Butler, William Collins, qualified as the only candidate to run in that district for councilman.

For the South Ward seat that Skeen is vacating to run for mayor, only one person qualified, who is Jeff Ragsdale, a resident of First Street West, who has served on city boards.

Qualifying was held Aug. 23-25 and ended at 4:30 p.m. last Friday.
