Tom Watford
Shellman Bluff – It is an absolute shame that we have to tell you this, but THE Tom Watford has passed away.
Walter Thomas Watford was born on August 22, 1943. It is no coincidence of course, that the Georgia Bulldogs won The Rose Bowl that very same year. After graduating from Ludowici High School in 1961, Tom attended ABAC in Tifton. From there, Tom went on to join the United States Air Force. After serving his country in the Vietnam War, Tom returned home to Ludowici, GA. Life took Tom to Memphis, TN, and eventually Gulfport, MS, where he found his new home. In 2009, he moved back home to Georgia and settled a few miles outside of Ludowici, in Shellman Bluff.
Surrounded by his wonderful Watford family and his family at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church. Tom was home. First and foremost, Tom loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Tom enjoyed playing golf, watching golf, and talking about golf. Tom loved the Georgia Bulldogs. Tom loved the Georgia Bulldogs. TOM REALLY LOVED THE GEORGIA BULLDOGS! More than his Dawgs, Tom Watford loved his family. If he counted you as family, then you were lucky. That means you knew a man as beautiful as that golden smile that we will so sorely miss.
Tom T. left us on Friday, September 8th in the year of our Lord, 2023. Tom lived a life most full. And if you asked him, he’d tell you that it was blessed, because it was better than most. Tom was a Father, Good lord, Tom was a brother, survived by a great many, GREAT Watfords. To know Tom is to know stories. There is no way to fit them all into here so come join us in sharing stories and laughter.
