County Commission votes
3-2 for 3,000 square foot
homes in Hog Hammock
McIntosh County Commissioners voted 3 to 2 to approve an amendment that would change the maximum size of homes in historic Hog Hammock on Sapelo Island from 1,400 square feet to 3,000 square feet at its regular meeting on Sept. 12.
Commissioner Davis Poole made the motion and it was seconded by Commissioner Kate Karwacki. Commissioners Roger Lotson and William Harrell voted no, and Chair David Stevens voted yes to break the tie.
Prior to that motion, Lotson had made a motion to change the maximum square footage from 1,400 up to 2,180. It was seconded by Harrell. Karwacki and Poole voted no, and Stevens voted no to break the tie. The motion failed.
Details of the meeting will be reported in next week’s Darien News.
