Richard V. “ACK” Atkinson of Darien died Saturday, Sept, 16, 2023 at Hospice of the Golden Isles.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 21, at Darien Funeral Home, with burial following at Georgia Veterans Cemetery in Glennville.

A walkthrough viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 20, at Darien Funeral Home.

He is survived by his children, Sharita Sheffield Sr. and Stephen Atkinson; siblings Mariam Evans and James Brown; and other relatives.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Darien Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
