Iona P. “Ona” Ryals, 84, of Townsend, passed away Monday, October 16, 2023, in Brunswick.

Born in Ludowici, she lived most of her life in Townsend.  A homemaker, she delighted in cooking for her family, friends, or anyone who stopped in at her home.  She attended Eulonia Church of God of Prophecy and was preceded in death by her husband, Harlis Ryals; son, Craig Ryals; and siblings, Oliver Poppell, Ronald Poppell, Gene Poppell, Marion Provance, and June Westberry.

Survivors are her daughter, Glenda Davis (Irvin) of Townsend; son, Terry Ryals (Shannon) of Townsend; brother, George Poppell of Ludowici; grandchildren, Chad Davis (Courtney), Jeffrey Davis (Lexi), Krisi Middleton (Brent), Dustin Ryals (Kaneal), and Stephen Ryals (Brooke); great-grandchildren, Kyle, Cassidy, Grayson, Skylar, Blake, River, Dawton, Luke, Katherine, Alyssa, Jaydon, Aiden, and Laci; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Thursday, October 19, at 2 p.m. at Davis Cemetery in Long County, with Rev. Danny Stilwell officiating.

Visitation will be Wednesday, October 18, from 6-8 p.m. at Howard Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers will be Chad Davis, Kyle Davis, Brent Middleton, Jeff Davis, Dustin Ryals and Stephen Ryals.
