Henry Arden Skipper Jr.

Henry Arden Skipper, Jr., 88, of Darien, departed this life Friday, October 27, 2023, at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Darien, with Reverend Jack Peeler officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrew’s Cemetery, with Nicholas Skipper, Dalton Skipper, Kyle Skipper, Cody Simmons, Brandon Skipper and Russ Jenkins serving as pallbearers.

Born October 5, 1935 in Brunswick to the late Henry Arden Skipper, Sr., and Marie D. Skipper, he was a graduate of Darien High School, and graduated from the University of Georgia majoring in Forestry in 1959. Mr. Skipper had lived most of his life in McIntosh County and worked for Georgia Pacific for three years before going to work for his father’s business, Skipper Seafood.  He went on to be a commercial shrimp fisherman for over 40 years. He was a former member of Darien Jaycees and McIntosh Rotary Club.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Darien. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia F. Skipper.

Survivors include three children, Hank Skipper and wife Lana of Lakeland, FL, Chris Skipper and wife Jennifer of Winder, and Bill Skipper of Darien; grandchildren, Nicholas Skipper (Beth), Brandon Skipper, Christina Simmons (Cody), Ashley Skipper, Kyle Skipper, and Dalton Skipper.

The family will receive friends Tuesday morning, October 31, 2023, at First Baptist Church of Darien from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour.
