Bobbie Poppell Ryals

Bobbie Poppell Ryals, 85, of Townsend passed away on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at her residence.

Born in Long County, she lived in McIntosh County most of her life.  She worked for several years at Altama Delta and was a homemaker who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with her family.

She attended Eulonia Church of God of Prophecy and was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Ryals, Sr.; daughter, Cheryl Moore; and son, Mason Ryals, Jr.

Survivors are her daughter, Donna Deal (Stacy); sons, Gary Ryals (Sheila), Jerry Ryals (Carla), Ray Ryals (Tabitha), and Barry Ryals, all of Townsend; special family friend, Chris Speed; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15, at 11 a.m. at Townsend Church of God, with Pastors Danny Stilwell and Bruce Miller officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery in Long County.

Visitation will be at the church on Thursday, May 14, from 6-8 p.m.

Active pallbearers will be Larry Thomas, Eddie Poppell, Leonard Ryals, Roy Ryals, Jason Ryals, Dustin Ryals, Chad Davis, and Mikey Thomas.
