Ann Britton Dodd, 87, of Jacksonville, Florida, and most recently Darien, passed away at home on May 3, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on July 6, 1938, and grew up in Hollywood, South Carolina, where her Low Country upbringing shaped the strength, grace, and warmth that defined her throughout her life. She valued and had a deep love and appreciation for her family.
She is survived by her sons, Kenneth Dodd (Judy), Cedar Point and Thomas Dodd, of Darien; her grandchildren, Jessica Dodd (Cally Traetto), Rebecca Dodd, Evan Dodd (Chelsie), and Caroline Dodd Turner (Henry); and her great-grandson, Weston Traetto. She is also survived by her sister, Lois Boyles.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Larry Avera Dodd; her daughter-in-law, Connie Dodd; as well as her five brothers and three sisters, all of whom she held close in memory throughout her life.
She was a member of St. Elizabeth’s Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida, and served in the altar guild and the St. Martha’s chapter of the Episcopal Church Women. She was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, Jacksonville Chapter.
She loved to garden, especially with native plants. She was an avid reader, loved needlework, and was a great cook. She was such a spitfire and kept an upbeat spirit until the end and faced her final months with courage.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, located at 301 Washington Street in Darien.
