Sylvia McLaughlin Rigdon

Sylvia McLaughlin Rigdon, 72, of Townsend, passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.

Born in Clewiston, FL, she lived in Florida and New York until she married and has lived down south ever since.  She enjoyed riding horses, even falling off multiple times didn’t stop her from enjoying them.  She loved her family, was a dedicated grandmother and great-grandmother, and spent as much time with her dogs, Coco and Gracie, as much as possible.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Pearl McLaughlin; children, Angelo Depasquale and Tina Depasquale; sister, Anna Ferraro; and brother, Lewis McLaughlin.

Survivors are her husband of 43 years, Wayne Rigdon; sisters, Mary Mehalco of Hinesville, Tammy Legett of Heath Springs, SC, and Mildred Headley (Gary) of Charleston, SC; brother, Russell McLaughlin (Julie) of Macon; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 11, from 5-7 p.m. at Howard Funeral Home Chapel.  Graveside service will be on Sunday, July 12, at 11 a.m. at Gardner-Poppell Cemetery in McIntosh.
