Burn Ban remains in McIntosh County
Burn Ban remains in McIntosh County
Although Gov. Brian Kemp lifted the burn ban on 17 counties on May 6, McIntosh County remains under a burn ban, according the County Commission Chair Kate Karwacki and Emergency Management Director Wesley Deverger.
Insufficient rain to eliminate drought conditions locally has kept the burn ban in place, but county officials are monitoring the situation.
A burn ban was issued for 92 counties in south Georgia on April 21, which included McIntosh due to drought conditions and the two fires that were raging in Brantley, as well as in Clinch and Echols counties.
Counties remaining under the burn ban by Gov. Kemp are Jeff Davis, Appling, Coffee, Bacon, Wayne, Berrien, Atkinson, Ware, Pierce, Brantley, Glynn, Lanier, Clinch, Charlton, Camden, Lowndes and Echols.
