Lavonia Leigh Wallace, 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Southeast Georgia Health System in Brunswick, Georgia.

Lavonia was born on September 8, 1957, in Palatka, Florida, to the late Russel and Hazel Gore and lived in Townsend for many years. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. Lavonia loved listening to music, caring for her plants and flowers, and preparing delicious meals for her family and was rarely seen without a Diet Coke in hand.

While she had many things she enjoyed, nothing meant more to Lavonia than her family and her faith. She loved her family deeply and was always happiest when surrounded by the people she loved. Her love for the Lord was an important part of who she was, and her faith carried her through life’s joys and challenges.

In addition to her parents, Lavonia was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald Louis “Donnie” Wallace, Sr.; and her son, Donald Louis “Donnie” Wallace, Jr.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Russell Wallace of Townsend; daughters, Regina Hendricks, Kacie Wallace, and Angie Wallace, all of Townsend; brother, Mitchell Gore of St. Mary’s; sisters, SueNell Dykstra of Townsend and Laurel Chapman of Brantley County; grandchildren, William Hollingsworth of Michigan, Preston Hollingsworth of Townsend, Damon Turner of Townsend, Tavarius Grant of Brunswick, Timothy Wallace of Brunswick, Masen Swindell of Townsend, Dixie Swindell of Townsend, Brooklyn Wallace of Townsend, and Donnie Wallace of Townsend; great-grandchildren, Noella Wallace, Milaya Grant, Blayden Hollingsworth, Andrew Hollingsworth, and Bentleigh Davis; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
