Man charged with vehicle homicide in Tuesday’s wreck
One killed in April 28 wreck, local man charged with vehicle homicide 1st degree
Georgia State Patrol charged Jamarius Davonte Sullivan, age 30, of Smith Road, in the death of one person which occurred in a two-vehicle crash in Meridian at 7:02 a.m. on April 28.
According to the GSP, the white 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Sullivan was driving exited the roadway while negotiating a curve and overcorrected causing the vehicle to cross the centerline and collide with another vehicle. The passenger on Sullivan’s vehicle was pronounced deceased on the scene, but GSP has not provided The Darien News with the identity of that person at this time.
The occupants of the other vehicle were transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Several of the occupants were trapped inside the vehicle. GSP also has not provided identities at the posting of this information.
Troopers transported Sullivan to the McIntosh County Jail and charged him with vehicle homicide 1st degree, reckless driving, speeding (69 mph in a 55 mph), failure to maintain lane, no seatbelt, distracted driving, no insurance, two counts of serious injury by vehicle, driving with license suspended/withdrawn 1st/2nd, and defective tires
The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) responded to the scene and is conducting further investigation. Ga. 99 was closed until 12:20 p.m. on Tuesday.
