Thomas “Tom” Jackson
Thomas “Tom” L. Jackson (76) of Richmond Hill, Georgia, went to be with Jesus on September 18th, 2026, at 1:25 P.M. at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, surrounded by his loving family.
Tom was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, businessman, and follower of Jesus Christ. Tom was born to Florence Louise Rowe of Townsend, Georgia, on January 31st, 1950. He moved to Savannah, Georgia, where he met Faye Morris and, in 1969, began a four-year enlistment in the United States Marine Corps. In 1970, Tom married Faye and became a father to his two daughters Donna and Tammy.
As Tom navigated the earliest days of fatherhood, he established his first small business, Southeastern Exterminating Company in Rincon, Georgia, following several years of service and learning at various pest control companies in the surrounding areas. Throughout the years, he owned and operated many successful businesses until he founded Great Southern Exterminating, Inc. in Hinesville, Georgia. After nearly 30 years of service with Great Southern Exterminating, Tom retired in 2023. He was also a member of the Hinesville Rotary Club for many years. He also attended the University of Georgia to further his education. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Florence Jackson; brother, Troy Jackson; and sister, Rosalie Jackson. He will be so greatly missed by his family and many others that loved him.
In the time leading up to his retirement, he took up residence in Richmond Hill to live as he did when he was a child – on the water. During his time living by the river, he enjoyed fishing with his family. He was the Praise and Worship Leader, and Sunday School teacher at Richmond Hill Full Gospel Church for over twelve years. He was also a member of the Gideons for over ten years, where he shared his ministry with the public by sharing God’s word and distributing Bibles. His love for Jesus and music was reflected in his service and family. He loved his life, cooking and eating seafood, his family, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In the valley of the shadow of death, it was well with his soul.
Survivors: beloved wife of 56 years, Glenda Faye Jackson of Richmond Hill; two daughters, Donna Jackson Davis of Midway and Tammy Luke (Ken) of Richmond Hill; brother, Herman Jackson of Guyton; sister, Pat Haas (Morris) of Temple Terrace, Florida; five grandchildren, Phillip Daniel Scroggin, II, Rebecca Brooke Skeen, David Thomas Scroggin, Kenneth Preston Luke, Jr. and Caroline Alexis Luke; five great grandchildren, Roxanne Scroggin, Violet Scroggin, Aldon Skeen, Austin Skeen and Kenneth Preston Luke,III; several cousins, nieces and nephews and many other extended family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Richmond Hill Full Gospel Church with Pastor Jonathan Lee officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow services at Daniel Cemetery in Richmond Hill where military honors will be rendered.
